When the original University Hall was torn down in 1971 to make way for the current building, several pieces of the space were preserved to some day belong to a "memorabilia room." The museum was first conceptualized in 1996 by Ohio Staters, Inc. and was originally located across the hall from its current location. With the remodeling of the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences' Executive Dean's office, a new room was built specifically for the museum. This construction took place from 2005-2007, and students from Ohio Staters, Inc. have worked to fill the museum with artifacts, set up a security system, install a projector to the space, relocate portraits from the Hall of Presidents, and publicize the space as both a formal meeting room and study lounge.
